Supervision and Consultation for Mental Health Providers

Just like living a full life, becoming a wise and competent therapist is a journey. And no journey is ever made alone. As a seasoned therapist, former teacher and and supervisor in training to become a Washington State Approved Supervisor, I want to be a guide accompanying you on your therapist journey, helping you out of the rough spots and supporting the development of your unique professional identity. My style is curious, warm, collaborative and non-judgmental. I will give you gentle feedback when needed, but not before I’ve asked you what you’ve already done and helped you to think about what your client may need. If you are new to the field and in need of supervision, I am happy to answer all your questions whether related to direct work with clients, managing a private practice or dealing with insurance companies. I am open to being paid on a sliding scale if your finances are tight. If you are more seasoned, I can reach you wherever you are, helping you with your more challenging cases that may include complex trauma and personality accommodations. No matter your level of experience, I have loads of resources to share with you and for you to share with your clients. I am LGBTQIAS+ supportive. I also understand the importance of examining neurodivergence and cultural issues, and how all of these realities may intersect with the mental health of the person sitting across from you. I can also help you to get at least some the individual supervision hours you may need for licensure.

Women’s Mental Health and Parenting Supervision/Consultation

With over 20 years of experience in working with pregnant and postpartum individuals as well as parents with young child (zero to 6 years of age). I can help you grow as a perinatal therapist. I can also help you to support and normalize parental struggles while also providing you with the tools to help parents to better understand how their own upbringing is effecting their relationships with their children. If you are a perinatal therapist, I will make sure you have the information and strategies that you need in order to support new parents in this very vulnerable life stage. I can also help prepare you to work with other types of challenges including PMS, PMDD, and perimenopause.

Trauma Supervision/Consultation (with EMDR,

Parts Work, and Brainspotting)

I never meant to specialize in trauma, but as I became a seasoned therapist with perinatal women and parents, I soon realized that specializing in trauma was almost a prerequisite for the perinatal work. While I still work with the perinatal population, I also often work with individuals with all kinds of traumas that manifest in many different ways and diagnoses including GAD, OCD and dissociative disorders. I use EMDR, Brain spotting and parts work (IFS and DNMS) with many of these clients which, over time, helps them to not just manage their symptoms but actually feel safer again with improved self worth. I want to help you develop the skills to effectively provide these powerful therapies with your own clients, feeling comfortable working with even the most wounded of clients. As an EMDR consultant, I can also help you work toward either your initial EMDR hours or EMDR certification. I use Brainspotting as well to help clients reprocess traumatic memories.

I completed my post-doctoral training in 2000 through the Infant-Parent Program at UCSF/San Francisco General Hospital.  I received my Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) in 2020 and have been working through an EMDR lens since 2018.  I worked for 10 years as a parent educator at Edmonds Community College and love to support new parents. There is nothing more satisfying to me than motivating parents to raise their kids better than they were raised. My parenting work is informed by Nurtured Heart and the theories of Daniel Siegel, M.D. I’m also a big fan of Dr. Becky (Becky Kennedy, Ph.D) a specialist in parental support. (Check out her podcast and website, Good Inside.) I have been in private practice since 2013 working with survivors of trauma and perinatal individuals, new and newish parents and families.
