Supervision and Consultation for Mental Health Providers
Just like living a meaningful, full life, becoming a wise and competent therapist is a journey. And no journey is ever made alone. As a seasoned therapist, former teacher and soon-to-be Washington State Approved supervisor, I want to be a guide accompanying you on your therapist journey, helping you out of the rough spots or when you have completely lost your way. My style is curious, warm, collaborative and non-judgment. I will give you gentle feedback when needed, but not before I’ve asked you what you’ve already done and helped you to think about what your client may need. . If you are new to the field and in need of supervision, I am happy to answer all your questions whether related to managing cases, a private practice or insurance companies. If you are more seasoned, I can reach you wherever you are at, helping you with your more challenging cases that may include complex trauma and personality accommodations. No matter your level of experience, I have loads of resources to share with you and for you to share with your clients. I am LGBTQIAS+ supportive. I also understand the importance of neurodivergence and how it may intersect with the queer community and trauma. Most people who come to therapy carry at least some trauma that drags them down without their knowledge. I can also help you to assess for trauma and provide the guidance needed to effectively address it.

Trauma Supervision/Consultation That Can Include Brainspotting, Parts Work,
and EMDR Certification
I never meant to specialize in trauma, but as I became a seasoned therapist with perinatal women, I soon realized that specializing in trauma was almost a prerequisite for the perinatal work. While I still work with the perinatal population, I also work with individuals with all kinds of traumas that manifest in many different ways and diagnoses including GAD, OCD and depression. I use EMDR, Brain spotting and parts work (IFS and DNMS) with many of these clients which, over time, helps these client to not just manage their symptoms but actually feel safe again with restored self worth. I want to help you be able to effectively provide these powerful therapies with your own clients and feel comfortable with the most wounded clients many of whom struggle with dissociation, emotional regulation and shame. As an EMDR consultant, I can also help you toward either your initial EMDR hours or EMDR certification.
About Terri Buysse:
I have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and have been working with trauma in various forms since my graduate days including with children in foster care and adults who have been emotionally, sexually and physically abused. I became a certified EMDR practitioner in 2018 and am now an EMDR consultant. I am also a big fan of parts work including internal family systems and developing needs meeting protocol. I also use Brainspotting to help clients reprocess traumatic memories. I like being able to give clients a choice in how they heal.
I completed post-doctoral training in 2000 through the Infant-Parent Program at UCSF/San Francisco General Hospital. I received my Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) in 2020 and have been doing EMDR processing on a very regular basis for three years. I worked for 10 years as a parent educator in the Family Life Education Dept. (FLED) at Edmonds Community College and love to support new parents. My parenting work is informed by Nurtured Heart, Positive Discipline, and the theories of Daniel Siegel, M.D. I have been in private practice since 2013 working with survivors of trauma and perinatal women, new parents and families.
